Telford's Got a First Name
Posted by Tammy on June 18, 2010 03:31 pm.
Now that we know what his first name is, I've added changed Col. Telford in the list of characters to David Telford.
Episode Related Stories
Posted by Tammy on June 16, 2010 07:44 pm.
We've added a new classification to the stories.  If your story is episode related, you can now add that information.  We've added all the Stargate  SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis episodes.  I'll be working on the Stargate: Universe episodes in the near future.
More New Categories
Posted by Tammy on March 03, 2010 03:32 pm.

Under the Television category, I've added the following shows:

  • Warehouse 13
  • V (2009)
  • Caprica

As always, if there's a show, book, movie, etc. you'd like to see added to the site, give us a shout.

You may also notice that we have a new poll going.

Happy New Year! (Plus a few important reminders and announcements)
Posted by Tammy on January 09, 2010 12:38 pm.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a good holiday season.

I've updated the site to the latest version of eFiction.  This will fix a few bugs that people were experiencing.  If you notice problems, let me know so I can get it fixed ASAP.

I've also updated the categories on the site. New categories:

Books > Animorphs

Television > NCIS: Los Angeles, Primeval, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Torchwood.

Movies > Transformers

Stories for these categories that were in the more general upper level categories have been moved. If there are other categories or characters you'd like to see added, leave a comment or use the contact form to let me know.

Finally, a couple reminders.

If there is a lower level category in which your story fits, it goes there NOT in the upper level category and NOT in the upper level category AND the lower level category.

Do not list every character in the story in your character list.  List only the characters that the story focuses on. The same goes for genres.  Don't list every possible option under the sun.  Yes, it'll make your story show up in the listings more.  It also makes those classifications nearly useless for our readers.  If you abuse this too much, I will lock your account.  It's the only way to be fair to those who are following the rules.

Last, but certainly not least, if your story is rated M or MA you are required to list warnings!

New Categories, Characters, etc.
Posted by Tammy on October 21, 2009 07:01 pm.
I've added the characters from Stargate: Universe to the list.  In the spoilers classifications, I've also added SG: U Season 1.  In addition, I've added the category "FlashForward' under Television.
And We're Back
Posted by Tammy on September 28, 2009 01:32 pm.
Sorry for the downtime folks.  There was a...let's call it a charlie foxtrot...with the domain registration and hosting. It was supposed to be on auto-renew.  Then when it went down, I had trouble getting the provider to respond.  Needless to say, we're on a new, better host.  If you notice any odd behavior on the site, please use the contact form and give me a shout so I can get it fixed.  Thanks!
Site Updates
Posted by Tammy on July 28, 2009 12:19 pm.

I've once again gone through and re-categorized stories that were misplaced.  Do NOT put your stories in the top level categories if there's a lower level category in which they fit.  In other words, if your story crosses over with Buffy: the Vampire Slayer, it goes in that category and not in Television.  I appreciate the cooperation.

I've added the following categories under Television: Criminal Minds, Dexter, and NUMB3RS.  I've updated characters in all categories where there's at least 4 stories.  This includes Battlestar Galactica and NCIS.

If you know of any categories or characters that you would like to be added to the archive, reply here or use the contact form to send us an email.

Check out the series finale of Battlestar Galactica tonight for a sneak preview of Stargate: Universe!
We're moving!
Posted by Tammy on March 13, 2009 08:35 pm.
Due to our increased traffic (thanks googlebot! Not.), our host is moving us to a new server.  I'll be doing the move over the weekend.  Expect some downtime at the beginning of the week.
Spoilers! Spoilers! Spoilers!
Posted by Tammy on March 15, 2008 10:27 am.

I've added SG:A Season 5 and the two SG-1 movies, Ark of Truth and Continuum, to the spoilers list.  Just a reminder, spoilers are required for the season currently airing in syndication (generally the season previous to the current Sci-Fi season) and all future seasons and/or productions.

This is also required of any other fandom in the archive!

For books or other non-serialized fandoms, spoilers are required for the first year after publication/release.

Updates
Posted by Tammy on February 08, 2008 12:59 pm.

Yes, the site has gotten some updates and more are on the way. First, you'll notice the countdown is back. We're counting down to the release of The Ark of Truth. You'll also see a new Link to Us button on the site. Help us promote Wormhole Crossing by clicking on the link and promoting the site. We'll be adding an affiliate's page soon for a true link exchange. We've added a new skin to the site called Atlantis.

Finally, we've updated how co-authors work on the site. You should see some pages loading much faster.  This change also affects how you select co-authors when adding/editing your stories.  Please follow the instructions on the form.  If you have problems with these changes, please let us know.

Login Problems

Several people reported login problems in the past day.  The problem should be fixed now.
Congratulations Tassos!
Posted by Tammy on September 05, 2007 11:34 am.
The featured story for the month is Bridges by Tassos!  Nominations are now open for next month's featured story.  We'll take nominations through the end of next week, and then voting will take place in the second half of the month.  So post a comment to this new story or use the Contact Us form to nominate a story.
Featured Story Voting is Now Open!
Posted by Tammy on August 17, 2007 12:41 pm.
I've opened up the voting for our first featured story.  I made an executive decision and chosen to limit the nominations to one story per author.  This way there are more stories to nominate next month.  So go vote!
Featured Story Nominations Now Open!
Posted by Tammy on June 29, 2007 01:17 pm.
Our currently running poll has revealed that there is an interest in seeing featured stories on the site.  Therefore, we are now accepting nominations for the first featured story here at Wormhole Crossing.  Nominate a story by posting a comment including the title and author of the story(s) you wish to nominate.  If you would like to nominate anonymously, use the contact form to send us the information.  The nominations will be open for two weeks.  After which, I'll post a new poll on the site for everyone to vote for the featured story.
Site Update
Posted by Tammy on June 02, 2007 08:08 pm.

I've updated the site. Mostly this update was bug fixes and adding some security measures. Please either comment here or use the contact form if you notice any problems.

Update:  Thanks to Sith Jesto for reporting the login issues.  I've corrected the problem.  A couple files didn't upload correctly.  Again, if you notice any other problems let me know.

FanLib.com
Posted by Tammy on May 22, 2007 09:57 am.
It's come to my attention that there's a new fan fiction archive out there that's getting quite a lot of attention from the fan fiction community. A fairly good summary of the controversy can be found at http://liz-marcs.livejournal.com/263549.html.  I'm not going to weigh in on this too much, but I encourage authors to carefully read the ToS at FanLib.com before posting any of your work there as there does seem to be some legitimate cause for concern.
"Padding" Submission Information
Posted by Tammy on March 25, 2007 01:18 am.

Authors,

The submission rules have been updated again. Please check them out. The specific changes deal with authors "padding" their submission information to force their stories to appear in more places. Do not select every genre that remotely fits your story. If you've got more than 4 genres selected, you're pushing it. Likewise, don't select every character that appears in the story. Please only select characters that are the focus of/featured in the story.

Please be kind to our readers by placing your stories in only the places where they belong.

I will once again be going through the story information and correcting genres, characters, warnings, etc as needed. Please fix your story before I have to.

Submission Rules
Posted by Tammy on January 29, 2007 11:26 pm.

Authors,

Please review the Submission Rules then make any corrections to your stories that are required. I spent several hours on Sunday working just on fixing summaries. Your summary should be a summary of the story and that is all!

  • Do not include other information in your summary.
  • Do not beg for reviews or for people to read your story.
  • Do not list pairings, categories, spoilers, warnings, or genres. Put that information where it belongs!
  • Do not put your author's notes/comments in the summary.
  • Do not prepend the word "Summary." The site will take care of that for you.
  • Do not put "WIP" or "Complete" in your summary either. Mark it in the form.
Time permitting, I'm going to start going through stories individually next looking for author's notes and other information in the story text that doesn't belong. I would appreciate it if you'd clean it up yourself before it falls to me.
Recommendations and more
Posted by Tammy on January 27, 2007 12:35 am.

I've finally installed the recommendations feature to the website. If you know of a Stargate crossover archived off-site that you'd like to recommend to others, click on the "Add a Recommendation" link. You can rate and leave reviews for these recommendations and even mark them as favorites. (Although we obviously can't send you update notices)

I've also added a couple more skins to the site, and to highlight these new skins, I've set the default skin to one of these new ones. I'll probably turn it back to AFblue soon, but for now enjoy the new skin.
